Pessach cleaning at the Western Wall!

I never knew exactly what happens to the notes that people put in the Kotel (the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem). So, here it is. It turns out they are removed twice a year, one of these times being before Pessach. And then they are buried.

  1. This is very interesting. Wow.
    It doesn’t seem proper just to chuck the notes away, but thought we only buried things with G-d’s names written permanently and in full on them. I guess this makes it easier than checking every note to see if this is the case. But what’s up with the mikvah dipping?
